Many programs at RMIT have extra requirements as part of the selection process such as:
You need to complete the extra requirements for the program you are applying for by the specified deadline or you will not be considered for selection into the program.

Entrance requirements are the minimum academic standard that applicants must meet in order to be eligible to apply for a program. Applicants should note the specific program entrance requirements on program web pages and RMIT University’s general entrance requirements as below.
RMIT University admits students on the basis of their demonstrated capacity to succeed in their chosen program.
TAFE certificate I, II and III and preparatory programs (including apprenticeships and traineeships) may have a minimum entrance requirement. Please check with the relevant RMIT school for information about the program you will be undertaking.
The minimum tertiary entrance requirement for certificate IV, diploma and advanced diploma programs is the successful completion of Year 12, e.g. Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or a comparable qualification. A small number of TAFE programs require completion of prerequisite subjects and achievement of minimum study scores. Check individual program pages for specific entrance requirements.

Overseas tertiary studies |

An applicant for admission to the Masters by Research will:
(i) have qualified for or graduated with a first degree with at least a credit average; or
(ii) have other approved qualifications or experience.
An applicant for admission to the Doctorate (PhD) will:
(i) have qualified for or graduated with the degree of Master by Research, a degree of Master by coursework which includes a research program with a duration of at least one semester full‐time (or part‐time equivalent) or with the degree of Bachelor with not less than upper second class honours of the University; or
(ii) have other approved qualifications or experience.
An applicant for admission to the Professional Doctorate will:
(i) have qualified for or graduated with an appropriate honours degree or Masters degree in the core discipline areas of the proposed doctoral program; or
(ii) have the appropriate level of advanced professional experience relevant to the discipline area.
An applicant for admission to the PhD by Publication will:
(a) be an established researcher and/or scholar; and
(b) have qualified for or graduated with the degree of Master by Research, a degree of Master by coursework which includes a research program with a duration of at least one semester full‐time (or part‐time equivalent) or with the degree of Bachelor with not less than upper second class honours of RMIT University (“the University”); or
(c) have other approved qualifications or experience.
