University community engagement

As AUCEA (Australian University Community Engagement Alliance) notes engaged universities are essential for Australia’s economic and social future. While universities interact with their communities in a range of ways, university-community engagement specifically implies collaborative relationships leading to productive partnerships that yield mutually beneficial outcomes.

Universities’ engagement initiatives span the full range of university endeavour, from engaged research, learning and teaching, student experiences and social responsibility. RMIT University in Hamilton engages with its local communities through building the nursing workforce in Hamilton, continuing education via the short course program, research and connecting with industry. A key part of this is open dialogue with the Community Advisory Group and other key stakeholders in the Southern Grampians community.
