The College Research office is responsible for:

  • encouraging research collaborations within and across disciplinary and academic administrative boundaries
  • extending understanding of national research policy and supporting contributions to debates in the context of the Excellence in Research for Australia (Opens in a new window) initiative developed by the federal government
  • leading processes for making practical plans for strengthening research capacity in selected areas in a context of constrained resources and the implementation of the national Excellence in Research for Australia initiative
  • leading processes aimed at improving higher degree research programs and the experience of research students in schools
  • representing school and discipline group views about research in university research strategy and planning processes
  • facilitating school support for researchers applying for external funding

Research Committees

RMIT Research Committee

This is a standing committee of the Academic Board responsible for providing policy, strategic and planning recommendations across the breadth of issues around research and innovation, and research training at RMIT.

RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)

The primary role of the Human Research Ethics Committee is to protect the welfare and rights of participants in research.

All research by RMIT staff or students involving humans as subjects must have written approval of this committee or, where appropriate, the RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee.
