Water is a critical resource. As population increases and demand grows, pressure mounts to maximise the efficiency with which this resource is managed. Sustainable water use is an important problem that is being tackled by groups throughout Australia and internationally. The RMIT WETT group is unique in its multidisciplinary outlook which combines engineering and scientific approaches to address three key research areas: Water & Waste Water Treatment, Water Resources & Management, and Biosolids.
The WETT group develops technologies and methodologies for treating waste water and detecting contaminants in environmental flows. They are actively engaged with communities, governments and industries conducting public good and contracted research to further the availability of clean, safe water for public consumption and the environment.
These themes are supported by the enabling disciplines of Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Ecotoxicology, Biology, Modelling, and Renewable Energy.
RMIT University was a Foundation Member of the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Quality and Treatment, and also of its successor organisation Water Quality Research Australia.
