Professor SueAnne Ware and Julian Raxworthy with Sun publishers are excited to launch Sunburnt: Australian Practices of Landscape Architecture this book features a collection of contemporary Australian landscape architectural design projects from the last ten years. This publication framework is structured around three conceptual constructs: bio metric emergent ecologies; social engaged civic spaces and the generation of an Australian formal aesthetic. These categories are intended to provoke discussion about different ways of thinking about landscape architectural practice and discourse in Australia, compared to both the mythologies of the Australian landscape, and its particular urbanism.
‘The value of what and how landscape architecture is being produced in contemporary Australian practice needs a wider audience to interrogate it further still. This book is indeed a call for others to comment and debate as it adds to a growing critical awareness of our practices.’ SueAnne Ware, Sunburnt, pg21.
Limited number of copies for sale at the book launch.
This publication was made possible by RMIT School of Architecture and Design, RMIT Design Research Institute, QUT School of Design and The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).
