The Landscape Architecture Program is renowned for its national and international reputation as a leader in design research and for design-based learning and teaching. A primary objective of Landscape Architecture Program is to progressively integrate design ideas and theory through design as research. Consequently, studios are the centerpiece of our learning and teaching environment. The sequence of Landscape Architecture studios is consciously taught so that design challenges and expectations are met with increasing sophistication. Studios seek progressively to develop and extend design ideas by testing them against theoretical constructs, technical feasibility and cultural circumstances. Reflective practice is supported, directed and emphasised as a basic critical faculty for a landscape architect.
