Furniture Lab gallery (opens in new window)
The Furniture Laboratory at RMIT University is a dedicated research and teaching facility that addresses the issues of furniture design in a vital and progressive way. The Laboratory's activities are structured around a series of workshops, forums, public lectures and exhibitions which involve the furniture and design industries and the public at large.
The Master of Design program offers students the opportunity to take part in this creative environment and engage in original research that addresses issues of design thinking and methodology, product development, advanced manufacturing technologies, materials research and marketing strategies.
Students within the program are expected to actively engage in the discourse generated by the gathering of professionals and academics and are given the opportunity to develop design research projects that are inspired by this environment of enquiry.
