Industrial Design - short course

An introductory short course is usually offered over the September school break. Participation in the short course has no direct influence on selection into the undergraduate program but it may help you decide if this is the program you wish to study.

The ‘Career discovery short course for Industrial Design’ is aimed at students considering applying for the Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) program at RMIT who wish to find out more about our program or those interested in the scope of industrial design thinking and practice.

The introductory course is a three-day intensive studio workshop in which students are introduced to a wide range of concerns and skills relevant to industrial design practice (drawing, modelmaking, technical plans and section, design history and theory, presentation techniques, portfolio and exhibition design). During the week students are exposed to the potentials of the creative process and develop a directed body of work. The course is presented as a combination of lectures and practical exercises in design for industry and is particularly useful for anyone interested in applying for the undergraduate program in future years.
