Masters Program

Masters of Design (Industrial Design) by Research is offered in two modes: by project and by thesis.

Research areas of study

Opportunities exist for self-financed students to engage in research and practice based Masters by Research and PhD. Areas of study include:

  • Designing a product service system for diabetics to self manage their condition
  • Designing a program and service system to amplify spending habits and reduce consumption
  • Designing a system to grow the community of ethical consumers in Melbourne
  • Designing and developing the Green Map system for Melbourne
  • Designing the car of the future
  • Studying design education and developing a model for the future
  • Working with China

The program is structured around four semesters (two years full time or four years part time).

PhD Program

The PhD (Architecture and Design) and PhD (Design) program - offered in two modes: by project and by thesis - provides opportunities for suitable candidates wishing to pursue doctoral studies in Industrial Design.

Candidate requirements: Interested candidates with backgrounds in Industrial Design or other fields of design, Engineering, Art or Social Science are encouraged to apply.

Candidates, to a Master or PhD position, are invited to send an application, including a detailed CV and a letter of motivation explaining how the candidate fits into the research project.
