King Power was presented by the RMIT Fashion Program and the Frances Burke Centre (now part of the RMIT Design Archives) in collaboration with RMIT Gallery. The two day Symposium addressed the expression of masculinity through notions of style, identity and appearance. King Power featured more than twenty-five presentations by individuals and panel members from the international practitioner and academic community including RMIT University, Monash University and University of Melbourne; University of Technology, Sydney, and University of Sydney; Queensland University of Technology; Curtin University of Technology; Massey University, New Zealand; Fashion Institute of Technology, University of California and Drexel University, USA; and Nottingham Trent University, UK.

Dr Alka Pande
Consultant Arts Advisor and Curator of the Visual Arts Gallery at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Visiting Faculty for ‘Aesthetics’ at the Delhi College of Art, formerly Head of Department of Fine Arts, Panjab University, and the Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University. Dr Pande has a special interest in Ancient Indian Erotic literature and art.

This Symposium coincided with the Living Elvis exhibition, RMIT Gallery, curated by Peter Barnes and RMIT Gallery Director, Suzanne Davies. Delegates were invited to the exhibition which explored the cultural myths of Elvis Presley as reflected in the visual arts.
